Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka is an American-British sitarist and musician. She is also the very first and youngest female to be awarded the British House of Commons Award. Anoushka Sitar Shankar is one of the Indian young sitar singer. She is the child of Ravi Shankar and a former student. Born in London She spent her first few years of her life traveling between London and New Delhi. When she was only 13 the first time she performed was in New Delhi took place. After that, she relocated to Encinitas CA, where she obtained the High School diploma with honors in 1999. Anouskha is still pursuing a successful music and acting career, even though she's only a teenager. Since quite some time, she performs regularly alongside her father. She has released Anourag her first album solo in 1998. She released Live at Carnegie Hall, a Grammy-nominated album two years later. Because she has performed on many of the biggest stages around all over the globe, her performance career has been extensive. The career of Anoushka doesn't only involve music. Bapi: The love of My Live is her 2002 memoir, that was a tribute Ravi Shankar. In addition, she has appeared in a number of films. In 2003, she was in the movie Dance Like a Man where she is a young Bharat Natyam performer. Anoushka shankar is a rising star and her career is expected to continue growing. Anoushka shankar is an English born musician who spent her early days split between London, Delhi and California. Anoushka Shankar began her musical studies when she was nine. A few years later she played her first appearance on the sitar in Delhi during her father's 75th birthday celebration. Anoushka was able to gain many valuable experiences when she accompanied her father when he toured the world. This included performing in Carnegie Hall and at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD festivals and performing together with George Harrison. It is the House of Commons Shield was awarded in her honor by the British Parliament as the top Asian Arts musician. She is the only female and youngest recipient of the distinction.
